I picked up a camera at age 10 and never put it down. My love of photography stemmed from the desire to create something beautiful out of the ordinary and express myself in a way that didn't require speaking. I have always been drawn towards the bittersweetness of life, the things, places and moments that make you feel deeply, whether it's a line from a book, an incredibly stunning landscape, the way the light filters through the trees, or a song that reverberates through your soul. I'm a highly sensitive observer and a romantic at heart, finding beauty in the smallest of details.
I've always believed in the power of storytelling. As a child, I would create an entirely imagined story out of whatever objects I could find. Eventually this evolved into a love for writing stories, reading stories, and finally, creating visual stories with my camera.
As your photographer, my goal is to take this love of storytelling and help you document the chapters of life that you want to remember in a timeless, nostalgic, and authentic way. However you identify and express yourself, however you show love, it would be an absolute honor to capture it.
You can usually find me getting cozy with a book, writing, drinking matcha (every morning), dancing, listening to music or a podcast, spending quality time at home in Santa Cruz, CA, traveling the world with my wonderful fiancé Kyle, and cuddling with my cat Nudge. I love all things green and whimsical. I'm a multi-faceted creative, but storytelling–whether it’s with my keyboard or with my camera–is where my passion lies.
For years, I would take my camera with me on trips and adventures, documenting myself, friends, family, landscapes– anything that inspired me.
In 2011 I got my first ever camera, a Canon Rebel t2i.
Eventually, I refurbished my uncle's Minolta SRT-101 from the 70's (I never got to meet him, but he was a great photographer, and I feel as if I'm carrying him with me when I use this camera) and fell deeply in love with film. Photography became even more than a means of expression. It became a beautiful way to remember. I was taking photos of my life and the people in it. I documented my house as I grew older and the ways it changed. I took random photos of family and friends and pets not realizing the significance until later, when I looked back and realized how much time had passed.
As an adult, I am forever grateful to myself for capturing these memories.
If you've ever looked through a shoebox full of photos of your parents or grandparents, they are more than likely all film. You feel sentimental looking at them; transported in time. It makes you feel more connected to your past and to the stories that made up your life. That is nostalgia. And that is what film represents. Film is both old fashioned yet timeless. It makes you slow down. In a fast-paced and overly edited world, film allows us to be extra intentional, especially due to the limited number of shots. You don't have 1000 chances. I have to trust my instincts and my creative eye, and often, the results are better than expected. Film is not perfect; it is a chemical reaction to light, and therefore subtle imperfections, grain, and light leaks can occur. I believe those imperfections are what add to the authentic feeling of film. Unlike digital, there is little to no editing after film is developed. It is untouched and impossible to duplicate, and therefore, a beautiful representation of a true moment captured in time. There is a sense of depth and raw emotion you can't replicate.
I will strive to create an environment where you can feel safe and fully yourself. Whether you have a clear vision or just a feeling you want to capture, I will help bring it to life with gentle guidance. This is your story—I’m here to document it with care, intention, and heart.
[For] Lorraine's ability to capture our elopement in such a beautiful and memorable way. Her creativity and intentionality shined all day, and her work perfectly showcased the intimate and whimsical ceremony we had in the woods. She is communicative, timely, and proactive and made the process seamless. We could not be happier with the memories we have through the photos she captured. Highly recommend!

She was flexible with last minute changes due to weather. She was fantastic working with my toddler during both my maternity shoot and our newborn shoot. She captured photos of family that were so true to us yet captured and edited beautifully to last a lifetime. I I would absolutely recommend her to anyone wanting beautiful photos and especially for families with young children!
